Developments: 2. No. 2 ranked BYU, holding a 6-0 record following an upset of Notre Dame, is scheduled to face UCF in Orlando. The matchup represents the highest-ranked team UCF has ever hosted. UCF enters the game with a 3-3 record and faces offensive challenges due to the status of starting quarterback Alonza Barnett III, who has missed four games with a hamstring injury. Keyone Jenkins is expected to start in his place. Analytical data indicates BYU holds a defensive advantage in metrics such as points per drive and success rate. As BYU prepares for the Big 12 conference matchup, analysts have noted the potential for a letdown, comparing the situation to Oklahoma State’s 2023 loss to UCF following a major rivalry win. BYU coach Kalani Sitake described UCF as a “dangerous opponent” that could improve its record to 5-1 or 6-0 with a victory. This game marks the third meeting between the two programs in three seasons. BYU seeks to improve to 7-0, though weather conditions in Orlando, including potential rain, may influence whether the Cougars utilize a passing or conservative running attack. Meanwhile, Alonza Barnett III remains questionable for the game. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-23: BYU prepares for Big 12 matchup against UCF in Orlando Undefeated No. 2 BYU travels to Orlando to face UCF in a Big 12 matchup following the Cougars' recent upset of Notre Dame. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/byu-prepares-for-big-12-matchup-against-ucf-in-orlando ### 2026-10-21: BYU prepares to face UCF in Big 12 matchup No. 2 BYU travels to UCF for a Big 12 matchup.
