Cabo Verde has initiated a series of reforms to its national education system for the 2026/2027 academic year. Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Arnaldo Brito, announced plans to restructure the system by revising assessment models, expanding school hours, and reforming secondary education. 

Brito indicated that the reorganization may also extend to public higher education, noting that while school access has expanded over the past 50 years, the system must be rethought to address current fragilities and move toward a “broader conception of education rather than focusing solely on instruction.”
