Cagliari Calcio has maintained a strong start to the 2026-27 Serie A season under manager Fabio Pisacane, holding fourth place with a league-leading defense. While defender Adam Obert has become a mainstay in the starting lineup, much of the recent attention centers on 20-year-old midfielder Alessandro Romano.

Romano, who recently committed to the Italian national team after representing Switzerland at the youth level, has earned a call-up from manager Roberto Mancini for the Nations League. His breakout performances have significantly increased his market value, which is now estimated to be between 15 and 20 million euros.

New details regarding his transfer from AS Roma indicate the move was a loan with an obligation to purchase for 4.9 million euros, featuring a 10% sell-on clause for Roma based on Cagliari’s realized profit. This valuation surge has ignited a transfer battle among Serie A giants. While Juventus is reportedly leading the pursuit through executive Frederic Massara, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Napoli are also closely monitoring the player.
