This initiative involves a total investment of over 148 million euros to create a new system structured around two poles, intended to improve environmental protection and sea quality.

Following this funding development, regional officials and the president of the Consorzio Valle Crati met to discuss accelerating purification works specifically in the Crati Valley. The discussions focused on speeding up administrative procedures and addressing structural fragilities to modernize the system. These efforts aim to resolve ongoing European Union infringement procedures related to waste and water management through increased institutional synergy.

Expanding on these infrastructure goals, the Consorzio di bonifica della Calabria has launched a pilot model for water reuse at the Catanzaro treatment plant. This project employs graphene filtration technology to reclaim approximately 25,000 cubic meters of water per day for the tertiary sector, addressing regional water scarcity. 

While long-term purification and reclamation projects progress, local utilities continue to manage immediate operational needs. In Reggio Calabria, the utility company Sorical has scheduled maintenance on the water network in the via Cardinale Portanova area, which may result in service interruptions or pressure drops for local residents.
