Law enforcement agencies in California have scheduled DUI and driver’s license checkpoints for August 21. 

In Fullerton, the Police Department will conduct an operation from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location, selecting the site based on statistical data regarding local crashes and prior arrests. Officers will evaluate motorists for impairment from alcohol, cannabis, prescription drugs, and over-the-counter medications.

In Goleta, the Goleta Police Department and the California Highway Patrol will hold a checkpoint from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. to promote public safety and deter impaired driving. Authorities noted that while marijuana is legal in the state, driving under its influence remains illegal. Both programs are funded by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
