The group reportedly targeted individuals who had previously lost money to illegal gambling sites to acquire their personal and banking information. In October, Thai police arrested two suspects, including a Chinese national, following a scam targeting a university student. In this instance, scammers impersonated high-ranking police officers and financial investigators, claiming the victim’s bank account was linked to illegal funds.
