Director Peter Berg and screenwriter Taylor Sheridan are developing a live-action film adaptation of the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise, specifically focusing on the ‘Modern Warfare’ sub-series. Produced by Skydance and Paramount, the project aims to move beyond simple action to explore the ‘cost of war’ and the psychological and emotional consequences of combat.

Berg has emphasized that the film will treat central characters—such as Captain Price, Soap, Ghost, and Alex—as complex, multi-dimensional human beings rather than cartoonish or superhero archetypes. The film is scheduled for release on June 30, 2028, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the original game.
