The Canadian women’s rugby teams have achieved notable success in international competitions. The women’s rugby league team, the Ravens, completed a ten-day tour of the United Kingdom, securing victories against Wales (14-0) and Scotland (34-4). Captain Megan Pakulis noted the tour helped demonstrate Canada’s potential as a developing rugby league nation.

In the WXV Global Series, the Canadian women’s rugby team secured two consecutive victories against England. Following a 24-21 win in Toronto—which saw record attendance for an independent women's match in North America—the team defeated England 31-22 in Ottawa, with Sophie de Goede scoring three tries. This marked the first time England had lost two consecutive matches since 2016.

In conjunction with these athletic successes, the Canadian government announced a significant increase in funding for Rugby Canada. During the Ottawa match, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Sport Adam van Koeverden announced an additional $2,815,000 in federal funding through Sport Canada's Sport Support Program. This brings the total funding for Rugby Canada for the 2026-2027 season to $4,975,000, with the investment intended to support athletes, coaches, and programs to foster rugby growth across the country.
