Forge FC and CF Montréal competed in the Canadian Championship final at Stade Saputo. During the first half, Forge FC took a 1-0 lead via an Antoine Batisse header in stoppage time.

CF Montréal entered the match facing roster challenges, including the absence of goalkeeper Thomas Gillier and uncertainty regarding the availability of Prince Owusu. Following the regulation and extra time periods, Forge FC won the championship via a 4-2 penalty shootout.

During the match, high-profile striker Alexis Sánchez remained on the bench despite warming up for over 50 minutes. Coach Philippe Eullaffroy defended the decision, stating that tactical needs and playing with ten men took priority over playing a famous athlete, noting, “Famous player or not, we try to see what he can offer on the field.”
