Several Canadian provinces have implemented or are expanding programs to increase highway speed limits. In British Columbia, a 120 km/h limit was established on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Kamloops. Alberta has also initiated a pilot project allowing 120 km/h on a stretch of the Queen Elizabeth II Highway between Calgary and Edmonton.

In Ontario, the government is conducting a phased rollout to increase speed limits on various 400-series highways to 110 km/h. This expansion includes Highway 400, Highway 115, and segments of the Highway 401, 403, 404, 406, 407, 412, 418, and the QEW. By late September, the province expects approximately 89% of its highways to carry the higher limit following technical assessments and infrastructure upgrades.
