Authorities in Delhi have uncovered a significant criminal operation involving the illegal sale and smuggling of life-saving cancer medications.

Initial investigations focused on a black market operation where four individuals were arrested for selling expensive government-allocated cancer injections. These vials, reportedly sourced from Bikaner, were valued at over one lakh rupees each. The probe aimed to determine how these supplies were diverted from authorized hospital stocks into the illegal market.

Subsequent investigations by the Delhi Police Crime Branch revealed a much larger and more sophisticated syndicate involving counterfeit and adulterated drugs worth approximately 9 crore rupees. This network allegedly operated across multiple states and utilized platforms like IndiaMART to target patients.

Law enforcement arrested a suspect, an MBBS graduate from Russia who had failed Indian medical licensing exams, who allegedly operated through a polyclinic and pharmaceutical business. Laboratory testing in Germany confirmed that some high-priced injections, such as Bavencio, were found to contain almost zero active ingredients, having been refilled with water and dangerous bacteria like E. coli. To date, 17 individuals have been arrested in connection with this broader smuggling and counterfeiting syndicate.
