Travelers heading to Cancun for the upcoming winter season are facing both expanded flight options and stricter local enforcement. New nonstop routes are being introduced from Canada, the United States, and within Mexico, including service from Halifax via Porter Airlines and various offerings from Breeze Airways.

Simultaneously, authorities are emphasizing compliance with Mexico’s nationwide anti-tobacco law. This regulation prohibits smoking and vaping in all public spaces, including parks, hotel balconies, and beaches. The National Guard is actively patrolling these areas to issue fines to violators.

As part of the ‘Plan Tulum Renace’, the Federal Secretariat of Tourism is further expanding connectivity within the Mexican Caribbean. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced that both Cancun and Tulum international airports will see an increase in international routes and frequencies between October 2026 and January 2027.

For the 2026-2027 winter season, Cancun will see a surge in international flights from Canada, the United States, and Europe. Key Canadian connections include Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Halifax, and Windsor via airlines such as Air Canada, Air Transat, Flair, and Porter. From the U.S., Breeze will operate new routes from Tampa, Pittsburgh, and Richmond. European connectivity will be bolstered by Air France from Paris and Neos from Verona. Domestic links will also increase with flights from Acapulco and Los Cabos.

Tulum is also preparing for growth through improved ground transportation options like the Tren Maya and ADO buses. Additionally, in Yucatán, WestJet and Air Canada will operate direct routes between Toronto and Mérida, while WestJet will add seasonal service from Calgary.
