In August 2026, both the Dominican Republic and Haiti implemented fuel price increases in response to international market volatility and tensions in the Middle East.

In the Dominican Republic, the government adjusted prices for gasoline and gasoil for the week of 8–14 August. To mitigate the impact of rising refinery margins, the state allocated RD$931.79 million to an anti-crisis subsidy fund.

Similarly, the Haitian government increased gasoline and diesel rates following rising costs in the international petroleum market. This adjustment, which also affected public transportation costs, was recommended by the Council of Consumer Protection (Ccsmp) to adapt to global market changes and preempt more severe economic crises.
