In April 2026, CarrefourSA’s 89.28% shareholding was transferred to Yeni Mağazacılık, the holding company of discount chain A101, completing a deal valued at approximately $325 million. The transaction incorporated Sabancı Holding’s 57.12% stake and Carrefour Nederland BV’s 32.16% stake, receiving all required legal clearances—including approval from Turkey’s Competition Authority—and formally closing on 31 July 2026. Hatice Evren was appointed CEO of CarrefourSA.

The two brands will remain separate, with the Carrefour name retained under a licensing agreement for at least two years. Financing for the acquisition was provided by a $200 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and a $50 million syndicated loan from the Dutch development bank FMO, both linked to sustainability targets. At the time of sale, CarrefourSA operated over 1,250 stores in 77 provinces, carried roughly $970 million of debt, and posted a $151 million net loss in 2025.

Following the takeover, the new majority shareholder, Yeni Mağazacılık A.Ş., provided approximately 15.9 billion TL in capital advances to CarrefourSA during the first ten days of August 2026. These funds, delivered in three installments, are intended to strengthen the company's financial structure, settle debts, and support operations. Consequently, CarrefourSA shares experienced a historic rally on Borsa İstanbul, rising 94.4% over seven consecutive trading days in early August.
