The Cascais Municipality has implemented several educational funding initiatives. Initially, the council utilized 175,000 euros from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) to host inauguration events for the new Cascais Secondary School, a project involving over 32 million euros in total investment.

For the current academic year, the municipality has allocated 1.8 million euros for higher education scholarships, marking a 50% increase from the previous year’s 1.2 million euro budget. Mayor Nuno Piteira Lopes stated the increase is intended to ensure more young people can pursue higher education regardless of their economic status. 

The funding aims to support approximately 1,200 students with tax residency in Cascais who are enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, or professional technical courses at recognized public, private, or cooperative institutions. Financial support is tiered based on location: students studying within the Lisbon Metropolitan Area are eligible for 1,250 euros, while those studying elsewhere can receive 1,750 euros. Applications must be submitted via the MyCascaís platform between September 15 and October 16.

These measures are part of a larger municipal plan to invest 83.6 million euros in school renovations and new constructions between 2025 and 2028.
