In early October, the region appointed new leadership for its digital and telecommunications sectors, including Lola Higuera González as managing director of the Digital Transformation Agency and María Asunción Cañada Belda as general director of Telecommunications Infrastructures and Cybersecurity. The administration emphasized that these changes aim to use digital tools, such as telemedicine and artificial intelligence, to improve public services and provide equitable care across the region. By late October, the focus expanded to rural development through a cooperation project coordinated by Fadeta. This initiative involves eleven Rural Development Groups across five provinces and seeks to integrate artificial intelligence into the daily operations of local businesses, associations, and town halls to enhance competitiveness and efficiency. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Castilla-La Mancha launches AI initiative for rural development Eleven Rural Development Groups in Castilla-La Mancha are implementing a year-long project to bring artificial intelligence tools to rural businesses, associations, and local governments. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/castilla-la-mancha-launches-ai-initiative-for-rural-development ### 2026-10-02: Castilla-La Mancha appoints new digital transformation leadership Castilla-La Mancha appoints Lola Higuera González as head of its Digital Transformation Agency, focusing on using technology and AI to improve public services and healthcare accessibility. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/castilla-la-mancha-appoints-new-digital-transformation-leadership --- Cite as: Castilla-La Mancha digital and AI initiatives.
