Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, President of the Junta de Castilla y León, appointed María del Valle Ares as the new Counselor of Education. Ares succeeds María Pardo, who stepped down to lead the People's Party candidacy for the Congress of Deputies in Valladolid for the upcoming November 29 general elections.

Ares, a law graduate from the University of Salamanca and former Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, officially assumed her role following a swearing-in ceremony. During the event, President Mañueco tasked her with the mission to “elevate the level and prestige” of the regional education system, which he characterized as a national benchmark and one of the “crown jewels” of the community.
