The EUV Stadtbetrieb in Castrop-Rauxel is implementing seasonal waste management initiatives. In late September, the municipality announced a free green waste disposal program in the Ickern district, allowing residents to dispose of household garden waste such as weeds, clippings, and small branches at a local recycling center. This initiative also included a compost giveaway to support circular economy efforts.

Following this, the city scheduled an annual leaf collection campaign for mid-October. This program involves placing specialized containers at thirteen locations across the city specifically for leaves fallen from municipal trees.
