Sources: 5. Developments: 2. A leadership and management crisis has emerged regarding the Assemblea Territoriale Idrica (Ati) in the Catania area of Sicily. Following the suspension of Adrano Mayor Fabio Mancuso by the Messina Court of Appeal, regional deputy Lidia Adorno called for an urgent meeting of 58 municipal mayors to elect a new president. Adorno argued that the water authority requires an authoritative leader rather than acting leadership to manage legal disputes, infrastructure investment, and the upcoming expiration of service conventions. As the management situation remains uncertain, local officials are warning of imminent service disruptions. The Mayor of Canicattì, Vincenzo Corbo, has requested an emergency plan for water distribution via tanker trucks, noting that the current interim contract for these services expires on November 9. Corbo has urged provincial and regional authorities to convene the Ati Assembly and establish a technical-institutional table to prevent a total halt in water distribution and avoid the social tensions seen in previous months. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-01: Canicattì Mayor calls for emergency water tanker plan Canicattì Mayor Vincenzo Corbo is demanding an immediate emergency plan for water tanker services before the current supply contract expires on November 9. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/canicatt-mayor-calls-for-emergency-water-tanker-plan ### 2026-09-25: Catania water authority faces leadership crisis after mayor's suspension Movimento 5 Stelle deputy Lidia Adorno has called for an urgent assembly of 58 mayors to elect a new president for the Catania Territorial Water Assembly following the suspension of Adrano Mayor Fabio Mancuso. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/catania-water-authority-faces-leadership-crisis-after-mayors-suspension --- Cite as: Catania regional water authority leadership crisis.
