Following a 6-1 defeat against Ascoli in a Serie B match at the Ceravolo Stadium, Catanzaro has dismissed head coach Giorgio Gorgone and his technical staff.

Despite taking an early lead in the 18th minute through Koffi, Catanzaro conceded six goals in response, including a hat-trick from Ascoli’s Gori. Ascoli coach Francesco Tomei noted the victory as a significant step toward league safety, while also expressing solidarity with the Catanzaro management during their difficult period.

The loss leaves Catanzaro at the bottom of the Serie B standings with only four points from eight matches. Sporting director Ciro Polito announced the dismissal, stating the club must show respect to the city and its supporters after a period of poor results. The dismissal includes technical staff members Emiliano Testini, Patrizio Ianni, Giorgio Santarelli, and Simone Angeli.

In response to the coaching vacancy, the club has appointed Michele Mignani to take over coaching duties as they seek to find stability and reverse their current form.
