Using the Twitch username ‘grumpygran1948’, she has cultivated a community of more than 24,000 followers. Bowie began her interest in the game in 2017 after watching her grandson play, eventually launching her Twitch channel in 2018 following a family challenge. Despite initial skepticism from her grandson regarding whether anyone would watch her stream, she has maintained a consistent presence on the platform for nearly nine years. She describes herself as a ‘Fortniter’ and emphasizes that age should not be a barrier to gaming culture. Her achievement has been featured in the ‘Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2027’. The developer of Fortnite, Epic Games, acknowledged her milestone by describing her as a ‘goat’. While her earlier streaming focused on community interaction, she has also noted an enjoyment of the game’s competitive nature and the ability to connect with a global community of players across the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-28: Cath Bowie sets Guinness World Record as oldest female Fortnite streamer Scottish grandmother Cath Bowie, known as ‘Grumpygran1948’, has set a Guinness World Record as the world’s oldest female Fortnite streamer, boasting over 24,000 followers. 9 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/cath-bowie-sets-world-record-as-oldest-female-fortnite-streamer ### 2026-09-26: Cath Bowie sets Guinness World Record as oldest female Fortnite streamer Scottish grandmother Cath Bowie has set a Guinness World Record as the oldest female Fortnite streamer on Twitch, using the handle ‘grumpygran1948’. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/cath-bowie-sets-guinness-world-record-as-oldest-female-fortnite-streamer-3 ### 2026-09-23: Cath Bowie sets Guinness World Record as oldest female Fortnite streamer Scottish grandmother Cath Bowie, 78, has set a Guinness World Record as the oldest female Fortnite streamer, boasting over 24,000 followers on Twitch under the username ‘grumpygran1948’. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/cath-bowie-sets-guinness-world-record-as-oldest-female-fortnite-streamer --- Cite as: Cath Bowie Guinness World Record achievement.
