Religious institutions are marking significant historical milestones through liturgical celebrations and pilgrimages. In late September 2026, Cardinal Mario Grech, serving as a special papal legate, presided over a Mass at St. Martin’s Cathedral in Spišská Kapitula to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Spiš Diocese, which was established in 1776.

In October 2026, Bishop Milan Stipić of the Križevci Greek Catholic Eparchy led a pilgrimage to Vienna and Bratislava to prepare for the eparchy’s own 250th anniversary in 2027. The pilgrimage included visits to the Greek Catholic Church of St. Barbara and the Imperial Crypt in Vienna, as well as the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Bratislava.
