The 150th running of the Caulfield Cup, a $6.54 million 2400m handicap, is approaching as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. 

Cosmic Crusader is currently the betting favourite following a win in the Turnbull Stakes. Defending champion Half Yours is attempting to become the first horse to win consecutive titles since the 1954-55 season. To do so, the horse must overcome carrying the topweight of 57.5kg, a significant increase from the lower weight used in last year’s victory. Trainers Tony and Calvin McEvoy expressed confidence in the horse’s preparation, noting that Mark Zahra will replace Jamie Melham as the jockey for this attempt.
