Celtic entered a match against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership following a period of instability, including a three-game losing streak and internal tension regarding manager Martin O’Neill’s future and protests against shareholder Dermot Desmond.

Celtic reclaimed the top spot in the league with a 2-0 victory at Fir Park. Goals from Camilo Durán and Benjamin Nygren allowed the club to leapfrog Rangers in the standings, marking their seventh win in eight league matches. The match also featured the return of Portuguese winger Jota, who had been sidelined for nearly 18 months due to injury. Introduced as a substitute in the 74th minute, Jota described the emotional significance of his comeback, comparing the experience to ‘finding my child again’ after a long period of absence.
