Sources: 82. Developments: 8. Celtic FC continues to experience contrasting fortunes between domestic and European competitions. In the Scottish Premiership, the club maintains its dominance, holding a four-point lead over Rangers after winning eight of their opening nine matches. This domestic success was highlighted by a recent 7-1 victory over Heart of Midlothian, featuring a two-goal performance from Callum Osmand. In the Europa League, the club faces ongoing challenges following losses to both Benfica Lisbon and Ferencváros Budapest. This struggle intensified following a 2-1 comeback defeat at Celtic Park against Celta Vigo. Although Mika Baur scored an early second-half goal for Celtic in the 47th minute, defender Javi Rodríguez turned the match around with two goals in three minutes—an equalizer via a header from a set-piece in the 68th minute followed by a decisive strike from distance in the 71st minute. Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giráldez described the victory as a “soberbio” effort that demonstrated the team's character. This defeat marks Celtic’s third consecutive loss in the Europa League league phase, leaving them without points in the tournament. The performance has drawn criticism from former goalkeeper Pat Bonner, who questioned the squad’s ability to compete at this level, stating that the team is “not good enough individually or collectively to challenge opponents like Celta Vigo.” Bonner also expressed concerns regarding the effectiveness of high-priced player acquisitions. Celtic will look to improve their European form in their next outing on 5 November, when they host Besiktas. ## Claims - Celta Vigo and Celtic are playing each other in the Europa League.
