In early July, authorities in central Chile warned that the region could see light rain, snow and thunderstorms, prompting residents to brace for unsettled weather.

By early August a stronger frontal system had moved in, delivering heavy rain—over 30 mm in Santiago—and strong winds up to 100 km/h. Snow accumulations were forecast for the southern regions of Los Ríos, La Araucanía and Los Lagos, while river‑level alerts were issued for the Lonquén River in Ñuble. Emergency teams assisted hundreds of families, sandbagged vulnerable neighborhoods and began repairs. The wettest month in 48 years was recorded in Osorno, leading to river overflows and red alerts. In response, the regional government announced a reconstruction plan for 21 communes in Ñuble, targeting nearly 1,000 km of roads, bridges and homes, and seeking support from the Ministry of Public Works.
