Initially, Regional Governor Athena Aidona approved a comprehensive tourism promotion program for the city of Serres using ESPA funding. This initiative focuses on establishing a strong destination identity for Serres through digital media campaigns, promotional events, and the development of thematic and alternative tourism to encourage year-round visitation. Building on these regional efforts, the administration expanded its outreach to international markets. The region participated in IMEX America in Las Vegas to strengthen its position in the global MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism sector. Simultaneously, the region promoted its agricultural products at the Fruit Attraction exhibition via the ‘Freskon Greece’ pavilion, showcasing local exports such as kiwis, peaches, nectarines, and cherries to enhance international competitiveness. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-22: Central Macedonia Region promotes tourism and agriculture at international exhibitions The Central Macedonia Region promoted its MICE tourism sector at IMEX America and showcased its agricultural exports, including kiwis and peaches, at the Fruit Attraction exhibition. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/central-macedonia-region-promotes-tourism-and-agriculture-at-international-exhibitions ### 2026-10-12: Central Macedonia funds tourism promotion for Serres The Central Macedonia Region is launching an ESPA-funded tourism promotion program for Serres to boost its international recognition and encourage year-round, multi-themed travel. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/central-macedonia-funds-tourism-promotion-for-serres --- Cite as: Central Macedonia regional tourism and agriculture promotion.
