CF Montréal has faced a difficult period in the MLS season, struggling at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with the fewest points and the worst goal differential in the league.

In late October 2026, the club suffered consecutive losses that impacted their standing. A 2-0 defeat against Nashville SC resulted in Montréal being officially eliminated from playoff contention. This was followed by a 4-0 loss to Charlotte FC, a match in which Liel Abada scored three goals. This defeat at Bank of America Stadium officially secured a spot in the MLS Cup playoffs for Charlotte FC, marking the third consecutive season the club has surpassed the 50-point threshold.
