In Chennai, police arrested a woman and her partner following the murder of a 58-year-old Sub-Inspector named Raj. While the death was initially reported as a suicide after the victim was found burnt in his Nungambakkam Lake home, a post-mortem examination determined he had been strangled and had ingested sleeping pills.

Investigators used CCTV footage and mobile phone records to identify the victim’s wife, Selvarani, and her partner, Devanathan, as suspects. Authorities allege the pair murdered Raj by dousing him in petrol and setting him on fire, with Selvarani reportedly citing a 26-year age gap between her and her husband as a motive.
