Chiayi County has implemented various initiatives focused on child welfare, early development, and community health. 

In early August, the county held its first joint graduation ceremony for public infant-care centers and community childcare homes. The event marked the transition of ninety children through a symbolic “Smart Gate.” This follows efforts to expand childcare services, with plans to grow from current facilities to fifteen sites serving up to 500 children. Additionally, the Chiayi Family Care Center showcased its “Big Hand Holding Small Hand” empowerment program, which focuses on child education and teen empowerment.

Complementing these welfare efforts, the county has engaged in long-term partnerships for early childhood development. Through a 28-year collaboration with Chiayi Christian Hospital, the government provides early intervention services for children with developmental delays, targeting the “golden period” between ages 0 and 3. The county also promotes medical autonomy through community health screenings that encourage citizens to record advance medical directives, palliative care intentions, and organ donation signatures.
