Shuta Takano of the Chiba Lotte Marines has transitioned from a long reliever to a versatile member of the team’s starting rotation. After refining his slider in the farm system, Takano secured his first career starting win on September 1 against the Seibu Lions, pitching seven scoreless innings. He continued this momentum with a third win of the season on September 10 against the Rakuten Eagles.

Takano has adjusted his pitching strategy, moving from a heavy reliance on forkballs as a reliever to a more balanced mix of fastballs and breaking pitches to manage longer innings as a starter. He has expressed a commitment to remaining prepared for both starting and relief roles as required by the team.
