Sources: 25. Developments: 2. The Chicago Blackhawks began the 2026 season with a 3-5-0 record as of mid-October, following a matchup against the Dallas Stars. By late October, the team's record shifted to 3-6-0 after a shutout loss to the Stars. On October 22, the Blackhawks lost 4-1 to the Montreal Canadiens at the United Center. Although Connor Bedard opened the scoring in the first period following a play involving a linesman, Montreal overcame the early deficit. Jake Evans led the Canadiens with two goals—including a short-handed goal—and an assist on Kaiden Guhle’s goal. Mike Matheson added an empty-net goal late in the third period to finalize the score. Despite the recent activation of veteran winger Andrew Mangiapane from the injured reserve, the Blackhawks have now lost two consecutive games. The team struggled to capitalize on five power-play opportunities during the loss, while goaltender Spencer Knight made 24 saves. Meanwhile, the Canadiens are playing without captain Nick Suzuki, who is expected to be sidelined for two to four weeks. Following the defeat, the Blackhawks' record fell to 3-7-0. Head coach Blashill noted that while the team created scoring chances, they were ultimately outscored. Montreal goaltender Jacob Fowler made 20 saves during the victory. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-23: Montreal Canadiens defeat Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 The Montreal Canadiens beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1, led by two goals from Jake Evans, despite playing without captain Nick Suzuki. 23 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/montreal-canadiens-and-chicago-blackhawks-face-off-in-nhl-matchup ### 2026-10-17: Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks face off in NHL matchup The Dallas Stars (3-3-1) face the Chicago Blackhawks (3-5-0) at the United Center on October 17, 2026. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/dallas-stars-and-chicago-blackhawks-face-off-in-nhl-matchup --- Cite as: Chicago Blackhawks 2026 NHL season performance.
