The town of Chiclana de la Frontera in southern Spain is holding various events to commemorate the 150th anniversary of its designation as a city, a title originally granted by King Alfonso XII.

Initial celebrations included a ceremony on La Vega street to unveil a mosaic honoring Leopoldo de Alba y Salcedo, the diplomat and politician credited with securing the city status. The festivities featured performances by the Municipal Band and a large concert in Plaza Mayor. 

Subsequent commemorative activities included a philatelic exhibition at the Casa de Cultura organized by the local association ODA. This exhibition showcased historical stamps, vintage winery labels, and photographs documenting the city’s evolution. Additionally, local post offices utilized special commemorative postmarks to mark the occasion.
