Reports from various Mexican states highlight significant challenges regarding child welfare, poverty, and adolescent pregnancy. In Tamaulipas, officials reported that 250,000 children and adolescents live in poverty, noting that 1,923 minors became mothers, including 126 girls under the age of 15. In response, the “Niñas sí, madres no” campaign was announced to address pregnancy in girls under 15.

In Querétaro, authorities have placed seven minors under protection this year due to child labor at street intersections, with many children originating from Amealco, Chiapas, or Oaxaca. Meanwhile, in Coahuila, the Procuraduría para Niños, Niñas y la Familia (Pronnif) identified 121 cases of pregnancy among girls under 15 between January and August 2026. Analysis by Matatena A.C. indicated gaps in coordination between the health, education, and justice sectors regarding sexual violence and early detection.
