Following a Comptroller General investigation into reconstruction efforts after the 2024 mega-fires, Deputy Hotuiti Teao called for accountability from former regional authorities. The investigation concerns alleged irregularities and potential overpricing in contracts awarded to the company San Nicolás. The Comptroller has requested that former officials face extracontractual civil liability, amid accusations that the company may not have met requirements or was created specifically to secure million-dollar contracts.
