In the O’Higgins and Maule regions, extreme weather including heavy rains and hailstorms has impacted production, specifically affecting crops such as cherries, blueberries, and vegetables. Authorities and regional committees are working to assess the scale of these losses to plan support measures for farmers. On the regulatory and economic front, the National Agriculture Society has joined a technical working group with the Internal Revenue Service to establish methodologies for the 2029 Agricultural General Revaluation. This effort aims to ensure land valuations reflect actual productive conditions. To stimulate regional economies, the Plan Chile Despega is implementing infrastructure projects in Valparaíso and Maule, focusing on rural roads, bridges, and connectivity. Additionally, efforts are underway to diversify agriculture through technological projects in Aysén and to expand international market presence for the viticulture sector. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-05: Chilean agricultural sector faces climate and competitive challenges Chile's agricultural sector is managing climate-related crop damage, seeking international market expansion, and implementing large-scale infrastructure investment plans to boost regional competitiveness. 12 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/carozzi-and-chilean-officials-discuss-tomato-cultivation-and-agricultural-challenges ### 2026-11-03: Chilean agricultural sector coordinates on 2029 revaluation and climate damage Chilean agricultural authorities are coordinating on the 2029 land revaluation methodology and assessing climate-related damages in the O’Higgins Region. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/chilean-agricultural-sector-coordinates-on-2029-revaluation-and-climate-damage --- Cite as: Chilean agricultural sector challenges and development.
