Sources: 3. Developments: 2. Controversy arose in the Chilean media following remarks made by Isidora Gaete regarding singer María José Quintanilla. During a broadcast of ‘Alfombra Roja’ on Canal 13, Gaete referred to Quintanilla’s performances at municipal festivals as ‘conciertitos’ (little concerts) and suggested the artist required the Viña del Mar Festival as a platform. These comments drew criticism from media colleagues, including Karen Paola, who called the remarks ‘tremendously classist,’ and Hugo Valencia, who described the tone as a ‘ninguneo’ (belittling) of the singer’s career. In response to the situation, Quintanilla addressed themes of female solidarity during a series of sold-out concerts at the Santander Arena. While joined on stage by Mon Laferte, Quintanilla stated, ‘Women are more united than ever. This is what should happen to us. To see a friend shine and have the heart, soul, and spirit proud.’ When asked if her comments were a direct reaction to Gaete, Quintanilla clarified that her message of supporting fellow artists is a regular sentiment and that she prefers to avoid controversies to focus on her music. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-16: María José Quintanilla addresses criticism during sold-out concert series Singer María José Quintanilla addressed recent criticisms from influencer Isidora Gaete during a sold-out concert series at the Santander Arena, emphasizing female solidarity in the music industry. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mara-jos-quintanilla-addresses-criticism-during-sold-out-concert-series ### 2026-10-09: Chilean media figures criticize Isidora Gaete over remarks about María José Quintanilla Chilean media figures, including Karen Paola and Hugo Valencia, have criticized Isidora Gaete for belittling singer María José Quintanilla’s career and municipal performances. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/chilean-media-figures-criticize-isidora-gaete-over-remarks-about-mara-jos-quintanilla --- Cite as: Chilean media controversy involving María José Quintanilla.
