# Chilean recycling and circular economy initiatives

Various organizations in Chile have launched initiatives to promote recycling and circular economy principles. 

In late September, the Soprole Desafío Colegios competition concluded, involving over 620,000 students nationwide. The program collected 37.5 tons of material, including 5.9 tons of PS plastic and 31.6 tons of beverage cardboard, with nine schools receiving recognition for their efforts.

Following this, a new nationwide campaign titled ‘Superhéroes del Reciclaje’ was launched by CCU, Teletón, and the Chilean Ministry of the Environment. This initiative focuses on mobilizing families to recycle PET plastic bottles through a network of more than 700 recycling points supported by over 120 municipalities. Collected bottles are intended for processing at the CirCCUlar plant to be reused in new bottle production.
