Regional sporting events in Chillán and San Carlos have focused on youth development through competitions such as the 3x3 Basketball Tournament, the School Chess Championship, and the Chillán Municipal School Basketball Championship.

Concurrently, several young Chilean athletes have achieved international recognition. Gabriel Díaz Mancilla, a 15-year-old basketball player from Coyhaique known as the “Ninja Coyhaiquino” due to his speed, joined the U15 national team and helped secure third place in the South American qualifiers in Castro, Chiloé. Additionally, students from Colegio San José de Chicureo have represented Chile in various national teams: Dominga Sotomayor captains the U17 women's volleyball team; Martina Báez competes in South American and Pan-American triathlons; Inés Watkins is part of the U19 field hockey team; and Lucca Baglietto is a member of the M20 rugby national team.

To support such development, sports authorities are implementing new funding and policy frameworks. In La Araucanía, the Seremia del Deporte, the Internal Revenue Service (SII), and the National Institute of Sports (IND) are coordinating to promote the Sports Donation Law, which allows private contributions to sports initiatives. Meanwhile, in the Biobío region, officials are implementing the National Physical Activity and Sports Policy 2026-2037. This policy aims to decentralize development across 33 communes through a subsystem for high-performance athletes and a community subsystem designed to combat sedentary lifestyles among youth.
