Chinese automotive manufacturers are expanding their digital ecosystems through strategic partnerships with Google to integrate automotive services into their vehicle fleets.

Geely Holding Group has entered a global strategic partnership to incorporate Google Automotive Services, including Google Maps, Google Play, and the Gemini AI assistant, into brands such as Geely, Lynk & Co, Proton, Riddara, and Smart. Shen Yuan, Geely Holding’s senior vice president and chief technology officer, stated the partnership addresses consumer demand for in-car connectivity that matches the “fluidity of everyday consumer electronics.” The rollout is expected to begin in the second half of 2027 for markets outside of China and the United States, subject to regulatory requirements.

Similarly, XPeng plans to launch a native integration of Google Play in early 2027. Utilizing Android Automotive OS, this integration will allow users to access music, podcasts, video streaming, navigation, and gaming directly through the vehicle dashboard across more than 100 countries and regions. This system is designed to work with XPeng’s existing intelligent cockpit and multilingual AI voice assistant, allowing users to interact with apps via voice commands. The platform will also enable developers to provide app updates independently of major vehicle over-the-air software upgrades.
