The cookie chain Chip City has begun a total cessation of operations following a period of regional closures. Initially, the company shuttered multiple locations in Arlington, Virginia, including sites in Clarendon, Shirlington, and Tysons, contributing to a broader contraction from 39 locations down to 24.

Following these regional exits, company president Nicolas Baizan announced that Chip City will close all 22 of its remaining locations. The shutdown is attributed to a challenging consumer environment and changing spending preferences. The company’s decline follows a recapitalization in March and a legal dispute involving co-founder and former CEO Peter Phillips, who filed a lawsuit alleging unpaid salary and disputes over web domains.
