A new documentary titled ‘El otro Chiquito’ explores the legacy of the late Spanish comedian Chiquito de la Calzada. Released on Movistar Plus, the film utilizes a ‘true crime’ approach to examine a significant legal dispute from 1995.

The documentary focuses on a lawsuit filed by the comedian against Pepe Navarro and Telecinco regarding the character Lucas Grijander, portrayed by Florentino Fernández on the program ‘Esta noche cruzamos el Mississippi’. Chiquito de la Calzada claimed the character was an unauthorized imitation of his persona and linguistic style, arguing it was damaging his career. Creator Diego San José noted the project focuses on the legal proceedings involving lawyers and judges rather than serving as a traditional biopic.

In recent discussions regarding the film, presenter Pepe Navarro appeared on the program ‘El Hormiguero’ alongside Florentino ‘Flo’ Fernández to address the documentary and his professional history. The project revisits the litigation surrounding the mid-1990s program Navarro created and hosted. During these reflections, Navarro also touched upon his personal background, noting how his childhood moves between Sabadell and France impacted his early education.
