The animated film ‘Chou Kaguya-hime!’ is undergoing a theatrical re-release in Japan following significant commercial success, including box office revenues that have surpassed 2.7 billion yen. The re-release features enhanced viewing formats such as ULTRA 4DX, SCREENX, and Dolby Atmos to simulate the film’s virtual space, ‘Tsukuyomi’. The film’s Blu-ray release also recently reached the top of the Oricon weekly rankings, with the special limited edition seeing shipments of 108,000 units.

New theatrical admission benefits have been introduced for the period of September 25 to October 1, offering moviegoers one of three random ‘Fanatic Omatsuri Girl’ cheering fans featuring characters Kaguya, Iroha Sakayori, and Yachiyo Tsukimi in new costumes. Additionally, the franchise is expanding its merchandise and digital presence. New full-graphic, double-sided T-shirts featuring six character designs are available for pre-order through FaNeMa until October 19, 2026.

The franchise is also expanding into social VR with a recreation of the ‘Tsukuyomi’ space scheduled for release on VRChat on September 25. An online live event is further planned for December 26 via YouTube and VRChat.
