Actor Christopher Abbott, cast as Professor Charles Xavier in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe X-Men reboot, has provided further details regarding his role and the film’s development. Abbott confirmed in recent interviews, including an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, that he has not yet read a script for the project.

While the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 5, 2028, as the inaugural title for Phase 7 of the MCU, it is currently undergoing a rewriting process. The final script is being handled by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo following an initial draft by Michael Lesslie. Abbott expressed enthusiasm for working with director Jake Schreier and noted that his audition process involved Zoom sessions and costume screentests, which he described as being “very human” in nature.

Abbott has also discussed his unconventional preparation for the role, sharing anecdotes about his interest in consciousness and remote viewing, jokingly attributing his experiences to crystals. The ensemble cast for the production includes Adam Driver, Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, and Maya Boyd.
