# Chubut provincial HPV prevention initiative

The Chubut provincial government, in collaboration with the Instituto de Seguridad Social y Seguros (ISSyS), has initiated a Provincial HPV Plan to strengthen cervical cancer prevention. The program targets women aged 30 to 65, regardless of social security coverage.

Initially, the strategy focused on implementing prevention measures at hospitals in Río Senguer, Dolavon, Gaiman, and Esquel to address diseases with high premature mortality rates. The initiative subsequently expanded in Esquel through the ‘Vos decidís. Vos prevenís’ program. This phase emphasizes access to HPV self-testing, a rapid and confidential method for women to collect their own samples to detect high-risk HPV types. The expansion is being carried out at several Primary Health Care Centers (CAPS), including Don Bosco, Bella Vista, Ceferino, and Sargento Cabral.
