The synth-pop trio CHVRCHES announced their return with a new single titled ‘Roses’, marking the start of sessions for their fifth studio album following a hiatus. Lead singer Lauren Mayberry described the new material as a departure from previous work, aiming to challenge the band’s established sound.

Upon the single’s release, the track was noted for a sonic shift toward a more rock-oriented sound and lyrical social commentary regarding contemporary Britain, addressing themes such as misogyny and Orwellian concepts. To celebrate the release, the band announced two intimate charity shows scheduled for October in Glasgow and London, with tickets to be distributed via a ballot system.
