Initially, the site was highlighted through cultural events at Palazzo Cuttica, including the presentation of a bilingual volume titled ‘La Cittadella di Alessandria “Faro” di pace in Europa’ which sought to establish the citadel as a European cultural landmark. Following these cultural initiatives, a major restoration agreement was formalized. The Piedmont Region, the Ministry of Culture, and the Municipality of Alessandria signed a six-year memorandum of understanding for a €29 million project to restore and repurpose the historic military complex. The investment, led by the Ministry of Culture with €24.6 million, includes architectural recovery of the Palazzo del Governatore, the installation of modern technological infrastructure, and the adaptation of the Sant’Antonio Quarter to house the Superintendency’s headquarters, archives, and laboratories. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-25: Alessandria Cittadella: €29 million restoration agreement signed A €29 million agreement between the Italian Ministry of Culture, Piedmont Region, and Alessandria will fund a six-year restoration of the historic Cittadella military complex. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/alessandria-hosts-conference-on-school-sexual-education-laws ### 2026-10-19: Alessandria hosts cultural events at Palazzo Cuttica Alessandria's Palazzo Cuttica will host events celebrating Monferrato literature and the cultural preservation of the Cittadella di Alessandria. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/alessandria-hosts-cultural-events-at-palazzo-cuttica --- Cite as: Cittadella di Alessandria restoration and cultural projects.
