In late September 2026, the City of Messina initiated preparatory meetings for the 15th edition of the ‘Messina RISK SIS. MA 2026’ safety week. The program focused on integrating safety and prevention into school curricula to help students recognize risks and adopt appropriate emergency behaviors.

By early October, the scope of Civil Protection Week expanded to the Campania Region. This regional initiative, coordinated with local prefectures, includes educational activities and exercises across all provinces. Specific programs include the ‘Sulle orme della Fenice’ initiative in the Terzigno pine forest, which focuses on forest fire prevention following the 2025 fires. Activities in Campania also feature guided treks through Vesuvius National Park and public visits to the Civil Protection base camp to demonstrate the work of emergency operators and volunteers.
