French judoka Clarisse Agbégnénou returned to competition at the Lausanne Grand Slam in the -63kg category, marking her first appearance five months after the birth of her second child.

Initially, Agbégnénou reached the semi-finals after winning three matches, including a victory over 2024 world champion Joanne Van Lieshout. Her run ended when Poland’s Angelika Szymanska won via a yuko near the end of the match. Agbégnénou ultimately secured a bronze medal. 

To support her postpartum return, the International Judo Federation provided a breastfeeding room near the warm-up area. Agbégnénou dedicated the achievement to her late father and noted the emotional significance of competing without him for the first time.
