The Cleveland Browns have achieved a 3-1 record, their best start since 2023, following a 27-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Deshaun Watson has led game-winning fourth-quarter drives in three consecutive contests, a feat not seen by a Browns quarterback since 1979.

While the team has seen success, concerns regarding quarterback depth have emerged due to a back injury to Dillon Gabriel. Gabriel, a 2025 third-round pick, was placed on injured reserve but has since been granted a 21-day practice window. Deshaun Watson described Gabriel as a “great teammate” as the team manages potential roster congestion involving Shedeur Sanders and Taylen Green.

Following Gabriel’s return to practice, the Browns are considering retaining four quarterbacks on their active roster. Head coach Todd Monken has expressed interest in evaluating his young quarterbacks, including the possibility of utilizing Green in specific packages. Despite previous speculation, Watson’s performance has made a midseason trade unlikely. While the team faces a potential roster crunch, reports suggest Cleveland has no immediate plans to move Sanders or Gabriel, potentially using the practice window to evaluate options or prepare for future injuries.
